ania katynska

Ania Katynska is a Polish-born baroque cello, viola da gamba and basse de violon player. She studied baroque cello with Jaap ter Linden, Phoebe Carrai, Markus Möllenbeck and Mark Caudle, and also obtained a bachelor diploma in viola da gamba. To increase the spectrum of instruments and possibilities as a basso continuo player she also added basse de violon to her instrument collection in 2011.
Ania has collaborated with Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (as part of Jerwood/Experience project for young musicians), European Union Baroque Orchestra, Arte dei Suonatori, Le Parlement de Musique, New Dutch Academy, International Baroque Players, Harmony of Nations, Collegium Musicum Den Haag and Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra.
Her music travels have taken her to most European countries, where has had the privilege of playing under many estimated and inspiring conductors, and to perform on festivals such as: Lufthansa Festival of Baroque Music (England), Edinburgh International Festival (Scotland), Aldeburgh Festival (England), Festival Glasperlenspiel (Estonia), Early Music LIVE! (Sweden), Sofia Baroque Arts Festival (Bulgaria), Festival International Echternach (Luxemburg), Festival de la Vezere (France), Muzyka w raju and Trzy Baroki (Poland).
Ania has given solo recitals at the Bach Festival in Katowice (Poland), Bach-Fest in Sumy (Ukraine) and in Chateau d’Eu (France). In July 2011 she was the soloist in the C.Ph.E. Bach cello concerto in A major at the Bach Festival in Gliwice (Poland).
She is currently a member of the chamber ensembles Concordi Musici, Ensemble Eloquentia, Parnassos and Ensemble 1729. She performs with them baroque as well as classical music, including Beethoven cello sonatas and other solo pieces.
In August 2011 Ania took part in the recording for the Alpha label of Leçons de Ténèbres by Charpentier with Arte dei Suonatori and Stephan MacLeod, under Alexis Kossenko.
In March of 2012 Ania recorded the second and fourth Bach cello suites for her demo CD. She also took part in recording of the debut CDs of International Baroque Players and Parnassos.
Along her solo and orchestral playing carrier Ania regularly teaches on a private basis and, since five years, during Les Ateliers de Musique Ancienne in Le Treport (France).
